About the Role
Are you a Senior or Lead Mobile Engineer who loves building high-performance, cross-platform mobile apps that interface directly with physical hardware?
We are partnering with a high-growth, venture-backed digital health & wearable technology company on a mission to transform personal health and human performance. Their platform pairs sleek, non-invasive consumer/medical wearable devices with advanced biometric telemetry and data-driven mobile software.
They are seeking a Lead Mobile Software Engineer
to take technical ownership of their core mobile software ecosystem. In this role, you will be the primary technical authority for their mobile apps (built with Flutter/Dart
and Firebase
), bridging the gap between sleek mobile UI/UX, cloud services, and low-level Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)
/ NFC
hardware connectivity.
This is a dual-track role designed for a developer who thrives on being hands-on with code and architecture
while serving as a strategic technical advisor to non-technical founders and cross-functional teams.
What You’ll Do
- Mobile Architecture & Hands-On Engineering: Drive the architecture, technical roadmap, and hands-on development of cross-platform mobile applications using Flutter & Dart .
- Hardware & Biometric Integration: Design robust, low-latency mobile interfaces that communicate with wearable hardware devices via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and NFC , processing real-time physiological telemetry and biometric data.
- Backend & Cloud Infrastructure: Manage and optimize cloud backends built on Firebase (Firestore, Cloud Functions, Authentication) and scalable APIs.
- AI Workflow Optimization: Champion the integration of AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, automated code generation/review) into daily engineering workflows to maximize team velocity and code quality.
- Technical Ownership & Guidance: Set engineering standards, conduct code reviews, and mentor team members while maintaining active involvement in daily production coding.
- Commercial Strategy & Trade-Offs: Serve as a key advisor to product and business leadership, making pragmatic technical choices that balance architectural elegance with delivery speed in an agile, early-stage environment.
What We’re Looking For
- Mobile Expertise: Proven track record building and scaling production mobile applications using Flutter & Dart (or strong cross-platform/native iOS/Android experience with a desire to lead in Flutter).
- Hardware / IoT Connectivity: Hands-on experience integrating mobile apps with physical devices, wearables, or sensors via BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) , NFC , or similar wireless protocols.
- Cloud & Data Pipelines: Experience with Firebase or modern cloud backends, handling data synchronization, real-time streaming, and offline-first state management.
- Pragmatic Technical Leadership: Demonstrated ability to act as a technical lead—taking ownership of mobile architecture, guiding junior/peer developers, and communicating technical trade-offs clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- AI-Native Mindset: Active user of AI development tools who understands how to leverage AI to write cleaner code faster.
- Agile Startup Mindset: Comfortable working in a flexible, fast-moving, early-stage business where adaptability and proactive problem-solving are crucial.
