About the Company An innovative AI and Machine Learning company developing advanced technologies for defence, security and other high-performance applications. The team specialises in computer vision, perception and autonomy, combining modern deep learning with neuroscience-inspired approaches to develop robust and efficient AI systems.
Its technology spans large-scale image processing and edge deployment, with a focus on turning advanced research into practical AI solutions.
The Role We're looking for a motivated Junior AI/ML Engineer
to develop their skills in applied computer vision and machine learning.
You'll work on AI systems using CNNs, Vision Transformers and emerging neural network architectures, learning from experienced engineers and researchers as you build your technical expertise.
This is a hands-on role where you'll write code, run experiments and contribute to the development of production AI systems. You'll receive guidance, mentoring and code reviews while gaining experience across research, software engineering and product delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and test computer vision algorithms using CNNs, Vision Transformers and other deep learning architectures.
- Run experiments and analyse results, including training strategies, loss functions and evaluation metrics.
- Help translate AI research into reliable, production-ready software.
- Assist with building model training, evaluation and inference pipelines.
- Support model optimisation for accuracy, speed and deployment across cloud and edge platforms.
- Contribute to the development of advanced deep learning and neuroscience-inspired AI solutions.
- Help deliver AI solutions for defence and other high-performance applications.
- Participate in technical planning, design discussions and code reviews.
- Learn and apply software engineering best practices while collaborating with experienced colleagues.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Solid foundations in machine learning and deep learning, gained through a degree, personal projects, internships or previous employment.
- Hands-on experience with PyTorch ; TensorFlow is also beneficial.
- Understanding of CNNs, Vision Transformers and modern computer vision techniques.
- Strong Python programming skills.
- Familiarity with version control, testing and code review.
- Comfortable working in Linux and/or Windows environments.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Clear communication skills and a willingness to learn and collaborate.
Desirable Experience

- Synthetic data generation or simulation platforms, such as Unreal Engine or NVIDIA Omniverse.
- Experience working alongside AI researchers.
- An interest in defence, government or national security applications.
Education An MSc or PhD in Computer Vision, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics or a related discipline is desirable. Equivalent practical experience and relevant personal projects are equally welcome.
Security Requirements Candidates must be eligible to obtain UK security clearance. BPSS clearance is required, with SC clearance or higher desirable.
Why Join?
- Work on advanced AI technology rather than incremental applications.
- Learn from experienced engineers and researchers.
- Develop skills across both research and production engineering.
- Contribute to AI systems used in demanding defence and security environments.
- Build your expertise and take on increasing responsibility as your career develops.
We are recruiting now and operate a streamlined interview process.
