About the Role
Are you a mid-weight DevOps Engineer with a solid background in infrastructure who thrives in autonomous, close-knit scale-up environments?
Our client is a high-growth UK SaaS provider whose platform powers critical safeguarding and health software across thousands of education trusts nationwide. Operating on a modern AWS stack, they are expanding their platform engineering capabilities and deploying a brand-new cloud region in the UAE alongside their core UK platform.
They are seeking a Mid-Weight DevOps / Platform Engineer with around 4–5 years of experience across DevOps, automation, and core infrastructure. Joining as the second dedicated engineer in the function, you will work directly alongside the DevOps Lead—helping implement platform architecture, building CI/CD pipelines, and taking ownership of internal IT and SysOps.
What You’ll Work On
- Cloud Platform & IaC: Help implement and manage AWS infrastructure using Terraform and AWS CDK across ECS Fargate, Lambda, SQS, CloudFront, and IAM.
- CI/CD & Observability: Maintain and optimize GitHub Actions deployment workflows and build out New Relic monitoring and alerting as code.
- UAE Region Expansion: Partner with the DevOps Lead to stand up a brand-new AWS cloud region, gaining direct multi-region rollout experience.
- IT & SysOps Ownership: Manage internal IT operations, staff onboarding, device management via Jamf (macOS MDM), and Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace administration.
- Internal Platform Support: Serve as the internal technical point of contact for infrastructure fixes and onboarding support (strictly internal—no out-of-hours on-call or direct customer support required).
What We’re Looking For
- 4–5 Years of Technical Experience: Proven hands-on track record across DevOps, cloud automation, and supporting core infrastructure.
- AWS & Infrastructure as Code: Strong working knowledge of AWS cloud services and IaC using Terraform or CloudFormation/CDK.
- CI/CD Pipelines: Experience setting up or maintaining automated pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins).
- Systems / MDM Experience: Practical familiarity with managing internal IT systems, endpoint management (Jamf or Intune), and Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace.
- Small-Team Adaptability: Comfortable wearing a few hats, collaborating closely in a small engineering team, and learning on the job.
- AWS Certification: AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Solutions Architect, or DevOps Associate credential preferred.
Why Apply?
- Salary: Competitive £50,000 – £60,000 package depending on experience.
- Great Work-Life Balance: Mostly UK remote (1 day every month or two in London or Manchester) with NO out-of-hours on-call rotation.
- Direct 1:1 Mentorship: Work closely with an experienced DevOps Lead to level up your platform engineering skills.
- High-Trust Culture: Everything managed in code with modern tooling and high team autonomy.
- Generous holiday allowance, pension scheme, and professional development support.
